Silver Celebration

Today my parents are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Such an amazing milestone for the two of them so I decided to mark the occasion with an ink and embroidered panel of their wedding photo. It's just something simple to mark today and I used silver embroidery thread for the occasion. I also made loads of cupcakes that have since been eaten hehe. Congratulations Mam and Dad and to 25 more glorious years!

Special delivery!

Got all my fabric delivered over the past few days and I'm in love with it!! Didn't think the champagne would be so blush but I actually think it's beautiful and goes so well with the antique rose crystals I got. Love the texture of the crepe chiffon against the duchess satin such a nice contrast . Just have to get my pearls and I'll have everything. Can't wait to see the final result myself!

Toile-Tastic

Really proud of myself today managed to get the whole toile done and I'm ready for the real thing now. Think I'm starting to realise I can actually do this I just need to use my time wisely. I have 22 days until the dress is due up in Belfast and I feel like the task is a lot more manageable now! here's a sneak peak of what the dress will look like but keep in mind the real over-skirt will be chiffon and have a lot more flow to it,

Drafting Al Fresco

Decided to take advantage of the amazing weather and work outside today. Just figuring out the last few measurements for the skirt which is quite tedious but the sunshine definitely made it easier.
Smiles all round,

Madeleine Vionnet

Sourcing inspiration from a true fashion icon. For being the woman who invented the bias cut she is so undervalued. Sheer brilliance from the 1930s

Mrs Doubtfire

Spent too much time today doubting my next steps  and wasted my energy. Could have gotten lots more done but let myself get distracted by what I think I can't do. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of work ahead and cost yourself more time. Anyway tomorrow is another day. I definitely won't be wasting any more time doubting myself ,

Start as you mean to go on

Hey guys, only finishing up my work for the day now. I felt I deserved a massive chipper after a long long day. Tried some different drafting techniques and worked directly on fabric for the bodice toile: From the French toile ("cloth") the toile is a basic version of the garment a designer produces to test the pattern. Think I've made a good start today and hopefully I'll be ready for the real gown next week. I've decided to keep the straps quite thick on the gown to support the feathers and give a more modest look which I think is still really important to Irish brides. Would love to hear some comments and suggestions guys,

FrockWatch: and so it begins

Still can't believe I'm going through to the final. The last few weeks have been hectic gathering all the material and finding a place to make the dress! Thankfully my family and friends have been amazing and have really helped get me going. Tomorrow I'll start my pattern drafting which will be the most demanding part of the process. This is FrockWatch everyone.
